Pitchapalooza Comes to New Hope, Sept. 10, 1pm

The Book Doctors, aka, Arielle Eckstut and David Henry Sterry, authors of The Essential Guide to Getting Your Book Published, will be making a house call at Farleys Bookshop 44 South Main Street, New Hope, PA. They want YOU to pitch your book at their acclaimed event, Pitchapalooza, which was recently featured in The New York Times, and in a mini-documentary for Newsday. Pitchapalooza is like American Idol for books--only without the Simon. 20 to 25 randomly selected writers get one minute to pitch their book ideas to an all-star panel of publishing experts. The winner receives an introduction to an appropriate agent or publisher for his/her book. In the last three months alone, three winners have received publishing deals. Plus, anyone who buys a book gets a free consultation worth $100. In the last month three Pitchapalooza winners have gotten book deals!

Arielle Eckstut has been a literary agent for 18 years. She is also the author of seven books and the co-founder of the iconic brand, LittleMissMatched. David Henry Sterry is the best-selling author of 12 books, on a wide variety of subject including memoir, sports, middle grade fiction and reference. His last book appeared on the cover of the Sunday New York Times Book Review. Together, theyve helped dozens and dozens of talented amateur writers become published authors. Theyve appeared everywhere from NPRs Morning Edition to USA Today, and have taught publishing workshops everywhere from the Miami Book Fair to Stanford University. Self-Publish Like A Pro: Avoid The Top 3 Mistakes Self-Published Authors Make To Give Your Book The Best Chance Of Success Zoom

Friday, October 22, 2010

Eva Natiello’s Self-Publish Like a Pro Master Class

This is a two-day class. Saturdays, May 11 & May 18, from 10am – 12:30pm EST.

What You’ll Learn
Choosing to self-publish empowers authors. But, what to do with that power? Knowing the most strategic and professional way to self-publish will help your book get all the love it so richly deserve. It’s easy to get overwhelmed. Learning the critical steps you’ll need to click “publish” will increase your confidence and authority. In this master class, you’ll acquire proven strategies that will help your book become discoverable by the readers who will cherish and maybe even become evangelists for it. Which is essential to compete in today’s marketplace. Empower yourself with a crucial plan of action necessary to prepare and publish your book in order to succeed as an authorpreneur.

Who Should Take the Class?
This Master Class is for authors of all genres. Topics include: editing, beta readers, book covers, ISBNs, formatting, keywords, categories, metadata, distributors, pricing, book descriptions, aggregators, exclusive vs. going wide, pre-orders, international markets and more. We’ll dig deep to understand what these things are, why they’re important and how to decide what’s right for you and your book.

Master Class BONUS CONTENT
Eva will demonstrate how to upload a new book to Amazon’s KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) platform. She’ll break down all the metadata fields and guide authors on how to fill these fields correctly and strategically—which will increase a book’s discoverability and ultimately help to increase sales. This is crucial information in setting up a self-published book for success.

Recordings of the Master Class will be made available to registrants.

TESTIMONIALS

“Eva Natiello is one of our all-star speakers. She’s one of very few repeat presenters. We’re very picky when it comes to our conference programming and Eva is a subject matter expert in topics that are extremely important to authors. Every one of Eva’s sessions were standing room only! Based on our exit surveys, Eva was one of the highest rated speakers for her tremendous content and presentation style. She is a natural in front of audience, blending her great sense of humor and wit with valuable information.
Steven Spatz, Director of the BookBaby Independent Authors Conference

“Eva’s workshop was amazing! The amount of useful information provided is tremendous. It would take me months to acquire and research everything on my own. This workshop certainly energized me. All of us were at different stages of writing and being lead by someone as successful as Eva, was very inspiring.”
Anya S., Self-Publish Like A Pro Master Class attendee

“Eva’s self-publishing workshop was terrific! I previously attended two other self-publishing workshops and hers was by far the best. She made it easy to understand what needs to be done, and her demonstration on an actual Kindle account was especially helpful. Her insider tips were invaluable. Run to take her course. You will not be disappointed.”
Rick S., Self-Publish Like A Pro Master Class attendee

“After Eva’s workshops, I felt like I was stepping into publishing with a set of tools and a map rather than a blind hope and a prayer.”
Lisa G., BookBaby Independent Authors Conference attendee

“As an author and ghostwriter, I have plenty of experience working with major publishers. But when I decided to self-publish my first novel, I was flummoxed by all the online advice. Eva answered all my questions, helped me set priorities and provided invaluable insights on what to do and what not to do. She’s not just a pro, she’s a pleasure. I look forward to working with her again.”
Susan D., Self-Publishing Client

Module 1:
Perfecting Your Book Package Pre-Marketing, Sunday 10/6/24, 8p EST
Before you spend one minute or one dollar on marketing your book, you need three important assets: 1) The right cover 2) A strategic sales page for online bookstores 3) Marketing savvy front matter and back matter. Even if you put big dollars behind your marketing campaign, it will be worthless without these things in place. In this hourlong workshop, learn what you need to do pre-launch and pre-marketing in order to lay the all important groundwork for future marketing efforts. Note: This module is for self-publishers. Participants who have attended Eva’s SELF-PUBLISH LIKE A PRO Master Class can skip this module. Traditionally published authors are welcome to learn what they should ask of their publishers pre-publication to ensure the strongest launch.

Module 2:
Book Marketing Pre-Launch, Tuesday 10/15/24, 8p EST
If you wait until your book is published to get your marketing machine going, you will be days late and dollars short. There’s so much you can do in the months preceding release that can exponentially improve your chances of having a successful launch and beyond. In this hour, Eva will discuss getting ARCs (prepublication digital copies of your book) in the right hands, how to assemble a street team, how to secure early reviews, presale dos and dont’s, author blurbs and so much more. Creating buzz at this stage will pay off when your rocket of a book launches.

Module 3:
Book Marketing at Launch, Sunday 10/27/24, 8p EST
It’s game time! All the marketing effort you’ve done before launch day should be ramped up the week before and after. Having well-laid plans will help you avoid overwhelm and take advantage of these critical days for sales. Building sales momentum, building buzz, and building bridges to readers so they see your book everywhere. But how? Eva will discuss Instagram tours, launch events, Goodreads giveaways, grassroots marketing, what to do on social media, and more.

Module 4:
Book Marketing Post-Launch, Tuesday 11/12/24, 8p EST
Thankfully, there’s no expiration date on a book! Sales momentum takes a minute. When the celebrations are over and months have passed by, sometimes you’d hoped for more. Don’t despair. There are always marketing strategies that work particularly well after launch. Even a year or more later when you want to bring fresh love and attention to your backlist book. Eva will discuss securing reviews, author swaps, newsletters, price promotions, book clubs, and more.
