Arielle Eckstut and David Henry Sterry have appeared everywhere from NPR’s Morning Edition to The New York Times to The Wall Street Journal to USA Today. They have taught everywhere from Stanford University to the Miami Book Festival to the granddaddy of American bookstores, Strand Books in New York City.
Their book, The Essential Guide to Getting Your Book Published, is the go-to book on the subject, and contains all the information you’ll ever need, taking you through the entire process of conceiving, writing, selling, marketing and promoting your book.

David Henry Sterry
David is co-founder of The Book Doctors. He is the author of 16 books on a wide variety of subjects, from memoir to middle grade fiction, sports to reference. His work has been translated into over a dozen languages, optioned by Hollywood, and appeared on the cover of the Sunday New York Times Book Review. He is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post. Before writing professionally, David was a comic and an actor. His one man show, based on his memoir, Chicken, was named the number one show in the United Kingdom for its entire run at the Edinburgh Theatre Festival, Fringe by The Independent.
Laura Schenone
Laura Schenone is the author of three books published by W.W. Norton: a James Beard Award winning social history of American women told through food; a memoir about her search for a long lost family recipe; and a deeply reported work of narrative nonfiction about the people who rescue animals (inspired by her dog Lily). Most recently, she co-authored a book on a major midcentury designer, to be published by Phaidon in 2024. Laura’s work has been featured in the New York Times, Reader’s Digest, Food and Wine, Good Housekeeping, Elle, Entertainment Weekly, the Miami Herald, Newsday, and NPR. Her bylines have appeared in Saveur magazine, The Los Angeles Times, Lit Hub, and many other places.
Laura is passionate about literature of all kinds. She has a master’s degree in creative writing from City College of New York, where she studied with Deborah Eisenberg, and before that did graduate work at NYU, where she studied with Margaret Atwood, E.L. Doctorow, and Galway Kinnel. As an intrepid ghostwriter, book doctor, editor, and communicator she helps business leaders, memoirists, and novelists develop and publish their books and essays. She loves helping people tell their stories.
Eva Lesko Natiello
Eva Lesko Natiello is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Memory Box, and Following You, self-published psychological thrillers that have sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide in multiple languages and formats. She is known for one of the longest book club tours, having attended over 200 book club discussions of her first book, The Memory Box.
A sought after speaker at conferences and literary festivals nationwide, Eva speaks about creativity, self-publishing, book marketing, and the writer’s life to standing-room-only crowds. As a self-publishing and book marketing expert, she is the creator and facilitator of acclaimed immersive workshops; she also consults with authors one-on-one to personalize best practices to their specific project and platform. She’s assisted hundreds of authors and select publishers in employing strategies that increase visibility and sales, passing on publishing savvy that leverages a book’s ability to succeed in today’s marketplace. Everything Eva teaches she uses to publish and market her own books.
Drawing on her 20+ years of experience in PR, marketing, and branding, Eva empowers authors with the tools and skills they need to succeed as authorpreneurs. She’s a member of Authors Guild and International Thriller Writers. Eva is a former VP of Global Communications for Estée Lauder, Inc. She studied psychology at UAlbany and upon graduation, moved to the Caribbean for a short but cherished stint as a resort singer. She lives and writes in New Jersey.

Ezra Pereira
Ezra is a graduate of Rutgers University, where he received degrees in French Literature and Finance. Ezra loves all variety of stories, being the only Rutgers student of his class to complete all the assigned reading.
While in school he ran a successful sneaker business, much to the chagrin of his roommate. As a member of the Book Doctor team, Ezra does beta reads and contact research for manuscripts, and loves watching a story evolve and flourish.
Asia Jannah
Asia Jannah has been a bookseller at one of the most beloved independent bookstores in the country, Watchung Booksellers, for 9 years. In addition to reading a mix of frontlist and backlist titles–about 40 books per year–working in the industry over time has given her access to the works of many new and upcoming authors and how their stories come alive in the book world. She loves to read a variety of genres spanning across contemporary fiction, essays, debut authors, and any story with an unhinged female main character. Asia was chosen as one of 35 honorees in Publisher's Weekly Star Watch 2024, an annual program dedicated to recognizing and honoring rising talent in the publishing and bookselling businesses. Along with hand-selling, she does visual merchandising and loves to engage in fiber arts. She is always interested in how any project develops from start to finish.
