We’re dedicated to helping writers everywhere get their books published. Successfully.
Between us, we have a quarter of a century’s worth of experience turning talented writers into published authors. Whether your book suffers from Titleitis, has no spine or needs a chapterectomy, we will help you fix it so that you can write it, sell it, and market it. Not to mention have fun while doing it.
Your pitch is the key that opens every door in the world of publishing. From getting an agent, to finding a publisher, to convincing readers to buy your book. We’ve read over 20,000 pitches. And we know exactly how to make your pitch sing the song that’s going to get you successfully published.
Not getting the response that you want to your query? Or don’t even know how to write one at all? We will not just answer all your query questions, but also write your query with you so that it’s ready to send to agents and/or publishers. Get your smart, savvy, scintillating, personal query letters here!
Book Proposal Development
How to write a non-fiction book proposal is part art, part science, and part alchemy. We offer everything from soup-to-nuts guidance to editing already-developed proposals to thorough reads. Our experience in the publishing industry enables us to take your idea to the next level, ready to pitch and ready to sell.
Whether you just “finished” your crappy first draft or are ten years into a manuscript, a developmental edit can be the greatest form of editorial help you’ll ever receive. Our developmental edits* address everything from narrative arc to voice to marketability and much, much more. A detailed editorial letter and one-hour follow-up consultation is included.
A line edit can make the difference between rejected and landing a book deal. Our line edits include just that—a line-by-line edit of your manuscript—and detailed editorial letter and one-hour follow-up consultation. Please note: We highly recommend a developmental edit prior to a line edit. Very few people are ready for a line edit and end up paying too much dough for notes that become moot because of structural issues that need to be reexamined.
Author Coaching & Support
Getting a book published can be a maddening process. We offer emotional and spiritual reinforcement in the midst of writers block, when characters decide to revolt or when a rejection letter sends you into a shame spiral. Author coaching can be done on a one-time, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis!
Writing a book takes creativity, guts, and determination—and this is especially true when self-publishing. If self-publishing is your path, having an industry insider in your corner is crucial. From editing to marketing, from cover design to e-formatting, there’s a host of choices that will make or break your book. We can guide you and help you find the resources you need within the budget you have.
When you have a powerful story to tell but you need some assistance in telling it, who you gonna call? A ghostwriter! We can help craft your book as a whole or finish a work-in-progress. And the author remains…YOU. From memoirs to fiction and beyond, ghostwriting may be just the ticket for bringing your book to life.
Presentation & Media Training
Most authors today are called upon to speak publicly and/or be interviewed by the media. And most are unprepared to do either. We will help you develop presentations and prepare for interviews. Then we help you perform. David spent over 20 years as an actor and improviser, starring in over 500 commercials as well as in theater, television, and movies. He has been cast alongside Will Smith, F. Murray Abraham, Michael Caine and Robin Williams. David coaches on everything from how to work a microphone to how to work a room full of people. The session can either be done in person or via Skype.
Book Promotion & Marketing
Most people don’t become writers because they love promotion and marketing. It seems grossly unfair, but nowadays publishers expect you to be able to get your book into the world. We will help you develop publicity and marketing plans that are within your budget and your abilities, addressing everything from blurbs to blog tours, webinars to in-store events, creating content to make the most of your social media, developing hooks to pitching the media. We will also connect you with publicity and marketing professionals who can help carry out these plans if that is what you’re looking for.
*We edit full or partial manuscripts.
